“A Play, a Pie and a Pint” originated in Glasgow at The Oran Mor Theatre in 2004 in an effort to bring new audiences to the theatre and to create a supportive community for writers and artists. The basic premise of the project is that one act plays are served up alongside a “pie” and a “pint” for a low cost ticket at a non-traditional time of day. Oran Mor have recently completed their 7th season (over 250 plays) and productions have toured nationally and internationally.
Thanks to the Knight Arts Challenge Grant (we were a winner in the 2011 challenge) and our subsequent funding, Tiny Dynamite has had the opportunity to bring this concept over to the US. The first two seasons of “A Play, a Pie and a Pint” (October 2011 and March 2012) played to sell out audiences and critical acclaim at The Society Hill Playhouse and had extended runs at Fergie’s Pub, Milk Boy in Ardmore, The Cosmopolitan Club, The Arden Theatre, and as part of the 2012 Philadelphia Fringe Festival at The Off Broad Street Theatre.
We are delighted to be back at The Red Room for a third season. Once again, we will be serving up brilliantly casual one-act plays, alongside a “pie” and a “pint”. This is a theatre experience for those of you who do not have the time for a full-length production or the money to pay for the high ticket prices usually associated with quality theatre. We are re-inventing the theatre experience from formal to “brilliantly casual”.
If you’ve been to London and experienced some of the great pub theatre London has to offer, you know how much fun it is. We have bagpipe players, pianists, hot pizzas, cold pints, and this season some amazing theatre companies and artists working with us.
